Cairns

Cairns is base for two major Australian attractions, the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics World Heritage Rainforest Area, as it is surrounded by rainforest covered ranges and by the Coral Sea. It is very tropical here, humid and hot. Excellent swimming beaches can be found just north of the city all the way up to Port Douglas. Visit the Table Lands, or take a ride on the historic train to Kurranda Market.
