Canberra
|
Canberra, Australia's capital, is a charming and modern city consisting of wide boulevards, calm lakes, galleries and museums. A good starting point for any trip is the Telstra Tower, which offers fantastic views of the city. An excellent time to visit is in Autumn, which falls between April and May, when the parks come alive with vibrant reds and yellows. Canberra with a population of nearly 300 000 is Australia's only major inland city. It is unique in having every detail of it's construction planned from the beginning, then being built halfway between Sydney and Melbourne after a dispute over which city would become the nations capital.
