Gibb
River Road
|
The Gibb River road travels
700 kms through the central Kimberley Plateau from King Sound at Derby to the
Cambridge Gulf at Wyndham. The surface is of dirt and gravel construction with
only some flood ways paved. The Derby Tourist Bureau recommends use of high
clearance robust vehicles, preferably 4WD, for DRY season (May to October) travel.
WET season (November to April) travel can be severely restricted by flooding
and road closures as the countryside can become very waterlogged.
There are a lot of things to see while driving on this road. Gorges, Waterfalls,
Landscapes and so on. Don't miss Windjana Gorge, Manning Gorge (upper and lower)
, Ellenbrae Station and El Questro. The boab trees around Derby are also worth
a look. Just follow the links below to get more information about this region.
